My first HDR image.

June 23rd, 2008

First HDR image!

I have been fascinated by HDR images I’ve seen over there years, and I’ve always wanted to try to create some myself. This one, I took with my handy-dandy Canon SD1000. I just used exposure compensation by putting the camera in manual mode and mapping the print button to the exposure controls. I took (5) images at -2, -1, 0, +1, and +2 EV and used HDR Soft’s Photomatix Pro 2.5.4 on the Mac (PC version exists as well).

One of the tutorials I’ve read is this one, which goes through the process and has some dazzling images to feast your eyes upon as well. Here is another tutorial.

Cool product for small cameras.

I saw this in quick blurb in my Popular Photography magazine a few months ago and forgot about it. This would be great for those with point and shoot digital cameras.

For only 22 bux, you really can’t go wrong if you’re looking for a “flexible” tripod/mounting system for a camera to help you get those perfect shots. The company, Joby, is also coming up with an SLR version of this.

Happy Birthday, Son!

May 24th, 2006

Benjamin, your mother and I would like to wish you a happy birthday. You’ve filled out lives with joy, love, tenderness, and laughter this first year. You’ve taught us that there is nothing more important than you. People can wait. Activities can wait. You are the most amazing little boy in the whole world and I can’t wait to come home from work each and every night!

Click the above photo for more of our wonderful day at the Detroit Zoo.

A few of my other favorites that I felt I had to post up here:

A bit out of focuse on its face. I was so close, too. :(

The tigers were being very cooperative!

This lion was being very stoic for this photo!
